Raising four children was definitely a challenge, but the rewards are awesome!

We stayed very busy all the time. We were involved with all things music–piano, band, jazz band, choir, show choir, youth symphony.

It was a great experience for them growing up, and my husband and I loved going to see their performances.

The work at home was vital to their success. I practiced with them and held practice recitals.

Why so much emphasis on music?

Well, it’s what we knew. My husband and I were both music majors, and were active in music throughout our school years. My husband is a public band director, and we both play in our church orchestra and a local community band.

It’s not just winning competitions, though. Music is vital to the development of the whole child. Many studies show that music stimulates the brain in ways that nothing else can.
